As written by his 'mom':
Pepe is approximately 2-1/2 to 3 year old German Shepherd. He is huge, incredibly good-natured, an inside/outside (patio) dog...he goes and comes through the doggy-door from my bedroom to the patio, which is a large, 7 ft.-high walled enclosure...100% housebroken, and has had every shot known to man. When I say housebroken, I mean he will not even relieve himself on the patio. Of course, I do take him on two 30-40 minute walks twice a day...once in the morning, and then again in the evening. And, smart as a whip!! I do walk him on a leash, but let him loose up in the hills to stretch his legs and run with our neighbor’s dog, a golden retriever. However, he constantly turns his head to make sure I am in sight. If he cannot see me, he immediately gallops (and I mean “gallops”) back to see where I am. He is good with young children, and all of the kids in our neighborhood know him by name. When they call him, he’ll go to them. He is a little more suspicious of teenage boys and men, and needs to be introduced to strangers he does not know coming into the house. It is just a matter of holding him by his collar, telling the person to stand still while he checks them out, and for them to say his name. He is an alpha dog, but does get on with other dogs as long as they do not exhibit any aggression towards him, and he likes to make friends. He will go after cats, and he hates motorcycles and fast, noisy cars. He LOVES feet!!! If anyone is sitting around barefoot, he will lick their feet until made to stop, and he also likes to try and grab your feet with his front paws if he is lying on the floor and you walk by. He is very obedient to commands . He is smart...he definitely understands the word “NO”, and recognizes disapproval in your tone of voice. He is normally not given “people” food, except for an occasional bone (he has been taught not to beg), and is quite happy with canned and dry food mixed once day, and I keep a dish of dry food always available. In fact, considering his size, he is not a big eater. He does have his own dog house, which he has never spent any time in. On my patio, he prefers to stretch out on my deck chair! All-in-all, he is an absolutely wonderful companion/watch dog and would be a loving family member with the right people.
